The handiest Hue commands for Alexa are some of the simplest. Turning on and off your lights, brightening and dimming, and other basic light controls can be executed in a variety of ways. Make sure to preface each command with “Alexa” to get its attention and replace with your own light and room names!
Other color names you can use include (but are not limited to) crimson, salmon, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, cyan, sky blue, blue, purple, pink, and lavender.
Philips Hue offers the ability to set light recipes, which have been created based on scientific insights into the best lighting for activities, and custom, colorful light scenes via various Alexa commands.
Alexa is smart, so you don’t have to say these commands exactly the way they are written in order for it to understand. Play around with these light commands to find the one that best suits the way you speak. Visit the Friends of Hue page to learn more about using Alexa with Philips Hue.
