Hue Bridge v1 users will need to download the Bridge v1 app for continued control of their Hue lights.

What happens if I don’t upgrade to Hue Bridge v2?

Your Hue Bridge v1 will still work and allow you to control your existing Hue lights. However, you will lose some functionality, such as voice control and away-from-home control, and you will need to download the Philips Hue Bridge v1 app.

How do I migrate to Hue Bridge v2?

Once you’ve purchased a Hue Bridge v2, migrating your Hue system to the new version is as easy as 1-2-3!

    Step 1
    Step 2
    Step 3
Leaving your old Bridge v1 plugged in, plug the Hue Bridge v2 into your router.
Do not unplug your Hue Bridge v1.
In the Hue app, navigate to Settings > Hue Bridges > Add Hue Bridge and follow the onscreen instructions to transfer your settings and set up your Hue Bridge v2.
When you see the onscreen alert instructing you to do so, unplug and remove your Hue Bridge v1

After setting up your Hue Bridge v2, don’t forget to register it to your online My Hue account to enable away-from-home control.
