What do the LED indicators on the Bridge mean?

The LED indicators on your Bridge represent different things:

Power indicator (left): The power adapter is connected.

Network indicator (middle): The Bridge is successfully connected to your router's network.

Philips Hue Portal indicator (right): The Bridge is successfully connected to the internet.

Zigbee indicator (blue ring around the button): Zigbee communication is up and running.

What does the "Restore factory settings" button on the back of the Bridge do?

Pressing and holding the "Restore factory settings button" on the back of your Bridge returns it to its factory settings, which means all previous preferences and configurations — your scenes, automations, widgets, and Room/Zone configurations — will be deleted. Additionally, bulbs and lights, which had been previously found via the automatic Search function, may now require that you manually input their serial numbers to reconnect them. It is strongly advised that you only return your Bridge to its factory settings if a Philips Hue customer support agent has advised you to do so.

What is Zigbee trust center for Bridge Pro?

Accepted Answer

The Hue Bridge Pro includes Zigbee Trust Center which prevents unathourized access to your Hue Bridge and keeps your data safe within the Bridge.

The Zigbee protocol, also available for Bridge (V2.1) comes with advanced security encryption making it a very safe system to use as every component is encrypted. The Pro version uses the Trust Center feature which makes sure that your Hue smart light setup is protected by just one single device (The Hue Bridge Pro) which is always up to date with the latest security patches. Therfore, you don't have to update all your Hue devices individually to ensure they have the latest security update.

I do not see the Apple / Homekit logo on the packaging. Will I still be able to connect to Homekit with Hue Bridge Pro?

The Hue Bridge Pro will be compatible with Apple Homekit but compared to Hue Bridge it will make use of the Matter protocol to establish the interconnectivity.

Can I use any USB-C power supply for my Hue Bridge Pro and/or can I use my USB-C power supply for other devices?

Accepted Answer

We recommend using the power supply which is provided with your Hue Bridge Pro. Keep the Bridge connected to ensure you don't miss any updates for your Hue system and can make use of all (cloud based) functionality such as voice control. In case you need to use a different power supply, ensure it's able to provide at leat 5V to prevent damaging the Bridge. We can't guarentee safe use of the provided power supply with other devices.

My Hue Bridge Pro is not working as it is supposed to. Can I use the LED indicators to find out what is wrong?

In the unlikely event that something is wrong with your Hue Bridge Pro the LED indicators can help to troubleshoot the issue. We always recommend looking in the app first and checking your WiFi settings (especially after changing internet provider).

The main LED indicators for troubleshooting are:

Connectivity LED:

- No LED: the power is off

- Pulsing blue: the Bridge is connecting for setup

- Solid blue: the Bridge is connected for setup

- Pulsring red: the Bridge can't connect to WiFi.

- Solid white: the Bridge is online and connected

- Pulsing amber: an IP address issue has been detected.

- Continuous red/yellow LED; contact the customer care center

Power LED:

- No LED; the power is off

- Red: the Bridge Pro is getting ready for set up

- White: the Bridge is powered and working

- Pulsing white: the bridge is working on set up

What is the difference between the mounts for the Hue Bridge and Hue Bridge Pro?

The Hue Bridge Pro can be placed anywhere you like. The silicon grip ensures that it can be placed safely and easily on any surface.

Like the Bridge, it's also possible to mount the Bridge Pro on a wall using screws. The holes on the back of the Bridge Pro will help you "hang" it on the screw and a secondary screw can be used to secure it so it doesn't move. The hole positions are slightly different versus We recommend changing the positioning screw if you want to replace your Bridge with a Bridge Pro.

Can I use my Hue Bridge power supply with my Hue Bridge Pro and vice versa?

No, the Hue Bridge Pro comes with a a USB-C power supply while the Hue Bridge is supplied with a traditioanl power jack.

Can I use the Ethernet cable of my Hue Bridge or own ethernet cable for the Hue Bridge Pro?

Yes, you can use any RJ45 Ethernet cable. However, we recommend using the supplied cable to ensure reliable connectivity.

How do I reset my Bridge Pro and what tool should I use?

Accepted Answer

In the unlikely event that something is wrong with your Hue Bridge Pro you can reset the device using the reset button on the back of the product. Make sure the product remains powered while performing the action. Use a long thin needle with a soft tip or the end of an paper clip to reach the reset button on the back. Press and keep the button pressed until the LED indicators change colors. The reset will then be carried out.
