Already have a Philips Hue Bridge? Then you’re all set! You’ll get the software update that enables Matter automatically, so there’s nothing additional you need.

All Philips Hue products — including both new and existing ones — will work with Matter if connected via Philips Hue Bridge.²

What are the benefits of Matter?

Matter creates a simplified connected experience between Philips Hue and other smart home products. It offers easier interoperability between supported smart devices in a reliable and secure manner. It is a seal of approval that devices will work seamlessly together today and in the future.

Which Hue products works with Matter?

All Philips Hue lights and smart accessories, such as dimmer switches and smart buttons, will work with Matter if connected via Philips Hue Bridge. The only exceptions are the Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box and the dial on the Tap dial switch.

Do I need a Philips Hue Bridge to connect my devices via Matter?

Yes.  A Philips Hue Bridge, the smart lighting hub for the Philips Hue system, enables Matter for all your Hue products.¹

How do I connect with Matter?

Once we roll out Matter for all users, the Hue app will guide you through setup.  

Are there any hardware requirements to use Matter with Philips Hue?

To connect your devices via Matter, you'll need a Philips Hue Bridge. Apple users will also need to have an Apple Home hub. Check out www.apple.com for the latest Apple Home hub compatibility requirements.

Will my smart home integrations work faster with Matter?

Since Matter simplifies the way smart home products communicate, you may experience improved performance with some cloud-based integrations that become compatible with Matter.

  1. The Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box and the dial on the Tap dial switch do not support Matter.
  2. Because the Philips Hue Bridge enables Matter support, products connected via Bluetooth cannot be used with Matter.
