Set up Philips Hue with Alexa

Connect Amazon Alexa with Philips Hue smart lights to use simple voice commands to control the smart lights in your home – and get the perfect sidekick to your smart lighting set-up.

There are two ways you can pair Philips Hue lights with Alexa, depending on whether you have a Hue Bridge or use Bluetooth to control your lights.

How to set up Philips Hue with Alexa (with Bluetooth)

  • Set up your Echo device. Make sure you have the latest Echo device software by asking, 'Alexa, is your software up to date?'
  • Power on your Philips Hue smart lights. If Alexa or your Alexa app says, 'New light found', your device is ready to use and you can skip step 3.
  • If your Echo device does not discover the light, say, 'Alexa, discover devices'. Once your light has been discovered, just say, 'Alexa, turn on first light'.
