What comes in a Philips Hue starter kit?
The Philips Hue starter kits contain everything you need to get started with a Hue Bridge-controlled smart lighting system. All starter kits come with a Hue Bridge and smart bulbs, and some kits also contain a smart accessory.
What does the Hue Bridge do?
The Hue Bridge is the brains of the Philips Hue smart lighting system, unlocking the full suite of smart lighting features. Adding a Hue Bridge to your Philips Hue set-up lets you control the lights in your whole home – both inside and outdoors.
Do I need an Internet connection to use a Philips Hue starter kit?
Yes, but only to set it up. After set-up, the Hue Bridge works as a standalone device and doesn’t require the Internet to work. The app on your phone talks to the wireless network in your house – regardless of if your Internet connection – so you can even control your lights if the Internet goes down.
Can I put the bulbs from my Philips Hue starter kit in different rooms?
Yes, but at least one of your bulbs needs to be within 10 metres (32 feet) of your Hue Bridge. In order to get the optimal smart lighting experience, we recommend putting the bulbs from your starter kit in the same area – especially if you have colour-capable bulbs.
Can I control my Philips Hue starter kit with my voice?
Yes, when you pair a smart home assistant. Philips Hue works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri to give you hands-free help around the house.
