Questions & answers
How do I get a free trial of Secure, and when does it start?
Every new Secure camera comes with a free, 30-day trial of the Basic plan. The trial starts as soon as the camera is set up, so you can try out all the advanced features that come with a Secure plan.
When will my Secure camera start recording video clips?
If you're subscribed to a Secure plan — including the 30-day free trial — your Secure camera will record motion as soon as it is detected. You can check to see if video clip recording has been enabled in Settings > Cameras.
What is the battery life of the Hue camera?
The experienced battery life of the hue camera depends on many factors such as temperature, age of the product, average clip length and number of events per day. Cold temperatures, long clips and total number of events per day negatively effect battery life.
Under typical usage at 20 degrees Celsius with 10 wake ups per day resulting in 10 clips with an average duration of 10s the expected battery life is 3 months.
To improve battery life we recommend to only arm the camera when you want to generate events and that you ensure its field of view does not cover busy areas which cause frequent wake ups. The wakeup of the camera is with an passive infrared sensor so even if there are activity zones or blackout zones the camera may wake up even if it does not record any clips. You can also improve battery life by reducing motion sensitivity and reducing maximum clip length.
How wide is the viewing angle of a Secure camera?
The Secure camera has a 110-degree viewing angle.
Does the Secure camera have a built-in siren?
The camera has an integrated siren that offers an 80 dB sound alarm.
Does the Secure camera support two-way talk?
Yes! A microphone and speaker are built in to the camera, allowing you to communicate with visitors.
Can I replace the battery of the Secure battery camera?
The rechargeable battery cannot be replaced. You can charge the Secure battery camera with the power cable that comes with the camera. It takes about 7–8 hours for the camera to fully charge.
Can I use the desktop stand with the Secure wired and battery camera?
The desktop stand was made for the Secure wired camera. It cannot be used with the battery camera.
