Hue camera with connectivity issues

I've had Hue products for over 10 years and am very experienced with their light bulbs and app. I was very excited to see this Hue desktop camera and thought it would be perfect in my Arizona room. I have an 8-month-old puppy and wanted to use it to peek in on her during the day. However, my excitement quickly faded once I realized that it constantly had connectivity issues. One of the main problems is a design issue. The camera uses magnets to hold the electric cord into the camera. It also uses a bigger magnet to hold the camera so it can sit in the base. If the larger magnet is anywhere near the electric plug, the camera starts to lose connectivity. I constantly had to move the camera to connect, and as soon as I walked away, it would disconnect. The few times I got it to connect, the picture was very clear. I thought maybe putting the camera upside down on the base would keep it connected. That also didn't work. Overall, I really struggled with this camera, and I wouldn't recommend it.
We love it!

I received this product in exchange for my honest review from influenster. I really like this after setting it up. Even though it is pretty simple to set up, I found it difficult to set up with no instructions included or a QR code for a video. I had to look up a video on my own to set it up so that was a little tricky at first. After that, it was easy to set up in the hue app. The picture is clear. We aren’t using it as security with the alarm and flashing. It is mostly to check in on the dogs during the day.

It is an excellent tool for keeping your home and spaces protected. The app is easy to use, and the real-time image is fantastic. Honestly, it is a very good security camera.

The camera quality is pretty good. It's so clear. It can be mounted or sit on the table. It's so convenient. Magnetic is very strong. The two-way talk feature is great. It's easy to connect through the Hue app. However, I have to delete the camera in the app and reinstall it if I change the wifi connection. It took a long time to reset. Overall, it's still a great home camera.

I really like to sleek design and compact size of this Philip Hue security camera. The desktop stand, makes it easy to position, and the camera feel sturdy and well-made. It’s convenient option for keeping an eye on your space while blending nicely to your room. The quality is not bad. Is not the best but does the job.

The camera is amazing I recently moved to a new place and was looking for a new security camera. I am impressed how great the material and overall product. The setup is great and overall performance is amazing. The night vision mode is great as well.
Good but not great

This camera works well and I like the adjustable base. The video quality is good enough for home security but is a little grainy. I also like that it connects to our existing Hue lights. I found the app to be unintuitive and difficult to find the camera feed. Overall the camera is good but the app controls could definitely be improved.

The Hue Secure Camera is, without question, one of the most disappointing smart home products I've ever purchased. For a premium-priced camera, I expected premium performance. Instead, I got unreliable software, limited functionality, and a system that feels white-labeled. I regret buying it and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Save yourself the money and look elsewhere - this is easily one of the worst products you can spend your money on.
Not worth the money. No Apple HomeKit support

I bought 3 cameras a while ago because hue promised to support apple home in the future, well that “future” has never arrived and looks like Philips hue has completely abandoned their promise. The cameras themselves are garbage with the hue app and on top of the price hue wants 99$ subscription for these garbage cameras. I have completely lost any trust in this garbage company if they promise something and fail to deliver
Great Potential, but Not Ready to Replace Arlo

I purchased two Hue cameras hoping to start phasing out my aging Arlo system. I love Hue lights and have been a longtime unofficial ambassador for the brand, so the idea of consolidating my cameras and lighting into a single platform is very appealing. I was immediately disappointed by the lack of Apple Home support. Based on the product description mentioning Apple Home compatibility, I assumed the cameras would be supported as well. Aside from that, the video quality is noticeably better than my Arlo cameras, but the Hue app still feels much less useful for managing video. Because the Arlo app is designed specifically around cameras, it makes it much easier to quickly view all cameras, see recent activity, and browse recorded videos. Hopefully, over time, Hue adds Apple Home support and improves the camera and video experience within the app. I’m optimistic about the platform, but for now, I won’t be replacing my Arlo cameras with Hue.
