What is included in a Bridge Pro starter kit?

Bridge Pro starter kits contain everything you need to get started with a Hue Bridge-controlled smart lighting system. All starter kits come with a Hue Bridge Pro and smart bulbs, and some kits contain a smart accessory, too.
Do I need an internet connection to use Bridge Pro starter kit?

Yes, but only to set it up. After setup, the Hue Bridge Pro works as a standalone device and doesn’t require the internet to work. The app on your phone talks to the wireless network in your house — regardless of if your internet connection — so you can even control your lights if the internet goes down.
Can I put the bulbs from my Bridge Pro starter kit in different rooms?

Yes, but at least one of your bulbs needs to be within 10 meters (32 feet) of your Hue Bridge Pro. In order to get the optimal smart lighting experience, we recommend putting the bulbs from your starter kit in the same area — especially if you have color-capable bulbs.

I really, really like what Philips are trying to do with this product line. However, the product is not as plug-and-play as it should be (in my opinion) esp given the cost. And the software intergration seems very glitchy / temperamental. It took a while for the App on my phone to recognize the Philips Hub and the s/w update seems to take a while longer than it should. I wasn't able to connect to Alexa via the app on my phone but was finally successful using my laptop. (I read about this tip from another Philips on Google.) I would have rated it higher if it wasn't for the connection issues I found.

I got the opportunity to get a great deal on one of their starter kits. Well worth the price. They don’t have color but it’s for a kitchen application…don’t need colors in the kitchen. And it included the bridge which significantly dropped the cost of that. Since the bridge can be a bit pricey by itself, it can cause people to go to a product that doesn’t require a bridge. But once you have the bridge, you have it and now can add anything you want from the Philips Hue line of products including lights, dimmers and switches, motion detectors and more. You can connect up to 50 items on one bridge. The 1600 lumen and 1100 lumen line of lights are great too. I have a 1600 lumen white only in my bathroom and it illuminates everything.

I've actually had this product in my home for years. Our energy bills are so high here and I hated the white/blue light of florescent bulbs. When I switched from incandescent to this, it saved me a lot of energy. I also don't remember the last time I bought a new bulb (going on 6+ years). I get to control the ambiance and the level of lighting and just love it. I even put it on a timer when I'm not home.

I have been dabbling with "SMART" home for about a year. All of the learning and experiments have led me to the stable baseline that is Philips Hue. I purchased a White Ambiance Starter Kit and I am really happy I did. What I can do in my home office is effective, fun, and useful. Isn't the order for 6 Ambiance Color lamps I just placed the real 5 Star review? Yes it is.

I had planned to purchase these months ago because another smart bulb brand that I was using kept repeatedly failing in my home. Worse than the other brand failing, their support process often meant spending 30+ minutes on the phone and waiting weeks for replacements... Then their is Phillips Hue - what a relief. They arrived quickly, the packaging was great, the instructions were clear, and setup couldn't have been easier. It took me about 20min to unbox, write down the serial number of each item, screw the bulbs into my fixtures, connect the hub, and get the lights working via the app. It was so fast and easy and the bulbs seem to respond quicker than the previous brand I was using. The day after install I played with the app more and setup zones and scenes and then connected Hue to my Alexa - everything was so much easier than past smart bulbs and I couldn't be happier. I plan to slowly convert all of my lights over to Hue.

The bridge could not connect to my wifi even though I connected the ethernet cable directly to the router. I looked online and found all kinds of trouble shooting advice, but nothing worked. I wish I could've had a better review since I was look forward to using the smart lights.

A little more initial direction on which app to work from would have saved some time with customer support getting back on track. There are red herrings when simply searching for Hue or Philips Hue. Otherwise a great product, very convenient to use.

So far these are great, I regret not getting the color ones but these make life at night and the mornings nicer since we can dim lights based on who is awake and who is asleep. We also have light strips in the kitchen, simply great!

Very happy with my bulbs and hub. Product availability seems low at the moment for additional Hue items, but I'm hoping that it improves after the holidays
