Gorgeous lights, miserable install, and no parts support Start with what the product gets right: once they're up, these lights look fantastic. Colors are rich and even, the Hue app is genuinely functional, and the Home Assistant integration is well done — they behave like proper Hue lights in automations, not a bolted-on afterthought. If this review were only about the finished product, it would be five stars. The install is where it falls apart, and it's bad enough to cost stars on its own: 1. The included screws are non-magnetic. You're on a ladder, screwing into a roof overhang, and every screw needs both hands because it won't stay on the driver. That's not just annoying, it's unsafe. 2. The adhesive on each light is weak and doesn't protrude enough to matter. On anything less than a perfectly flat surface it's useless, so plan on building a jig to hold each light in place while you fasten it. 3. The cable management clips are poor quality. Screws rip straight through them on a regular basis. 4. There is no parts replacement. One 10 ft extension cord in my kit was defective. Philips wouldn't replace just the cord — their answer was to take the entire install down, return the whole kit to Amazon, and start over, roughly 30 hours of work to fix a single bad cable. So the only remedy for any of these problems is walking through this install three times. With the above mentioned issues. So if you are going to buy these, also buy enough replacement screws, and plan on building yourself a jig to do the install. Buy these for how they look and how they integrate. Just go in knowing the install hardware fights you the whole way, and if any single part fails, Philips' answer is kick rocks.
