Question 1

What’s the best way to beautify my space with backyard lights?

Accepted Answer

Use a variety of wall lights, spotlights, and pedestal lights to create depth, focal points, and pools of light around the garden. Spotlights are ideal for highlighting plants and picking out architectural features. They can easily be tucked into pots and planters or mounted on walls and posts. Wall lights can bring sophisticated design details to your patio or deck while adding a striking accent of light that's cast up and down the wall. Pedestal, bollard lights, or even lightstrips are an ideal way of marking pathways to help guide you around your space.

Question 2

How can smart lights help keep my backyard secure?

Accepted Answer

An outdoor sensor can help deter any unwanted visitors by triggering your lights when it detects any movement outside. Set the range and sensitivity of the sensor so that your lights aren’t triggered by nocturnal animals or your pet dog! Besides a sensor, you can also choose timetables for when you want your backyard lights and smart porch lights to switch on. You can even set a Mimic presence automation to make it look like you’re home when you’re away.

Question 3

How do I string lights across my backyard?

Accepted Answer

Trees, large bushes, and shrubs are an ideal place to hang your outdoor string lights. They’ll elevate the natural colors of the foliage and cast beautiful shadows while complementing all your backyard lights. Philips Hue Festavia string lights come in a long, 40-meter (131.2-foot) length, so you have plenty of lights for even large trees. Another obvious choice is your covered outdoor seating area. Hang Festavia string lights along the eaves of the roof by draping the cord between a series of hooks attached to the beams. Festavia lights also wrap perfectly around any poles or pillars in your backyard. Twirl them up the beams that support any outdoor covered areas, like a front porch or dining area.
