Question 1

Should I get a battery or wired home security camera?

Accepted Answer

It depends! If the space in which you want to place your camera has access to a wall outlet, a wired camera might be the best way to go. In this case, it won't need to be recharged and will run continuously so long as it's plugged in. If your space is farther away from an outlet or you want to move your camera around to different areas, a battery camera might be the best option. A single charge can last up to several months, but you'll need to remove the camera from its magnetic mount to charge it periodically.

Question 2

Do I need a monthly subscription for my home security camera?

Accepted Answer

Some home security cameras do require a monthly subscription to function. Hue offers Secure plans that give you access to advanced features, such as instant AI-powered alerts sent to your mobile device, video clip storage and Activity zones. However, without a plan, you can still view your camera’s live feed, receive alerts in the Hue app, activate light and sound alarms and more.

Question 3

How can I mount my home security camera?

Accepted Answer

Home security cameras come with a magnetic mount that can be attached to a surface like a wall or beam, a ground spike for outdoor use or simply placed into the desktop stand and placed onto any flat surface.
