How to install outdoor spotlights

Adding outdoor spotlights in your garden can enhance landscape features and add the right atmosphere for nights spent outside. Before installing outdoor spotlights, look at your space and decide what features you want to highlight or what areas need lighting for security or aesthetics.

The versatile design of the Lily outdoor spot light makes it ideal for many locations and purposes, thanks to its ability to be mounted on the wall or placed in the ground with spikes. And because it’s part of the Low-volt collection of lights, you don’t need an electrician to wire it — you just plug the spotlight in to any outdoor outlet.

Installing a wall-mounted outdoor spotlight

Outdoor wall spotlights can highlight features of interest. To make sure you properly illuminate the feature, install the spotlight higher on the wall than the areas or object. You can then choose to point the beam downward — this is great for plants, garden ornaments, or dark corners of a seating area. However, if you’d like to create a more dramatic, shadowy effect, you can mount the spotlight a bit lower and point the light upwards.

Installing outdoor ground spotlights

Outdoor ground spotlights are even easier to install than wall-mounted ones, since they require no drilling or mounting. Simply push in one of the spikes (included with Lily spot lights) into the ground, attach the spotlight itself to the spike, and plug in the light.

Standard Lily spot lights come in packs of three — including its power supply — so you can experiment with their placement. Line a path or enhance the beauty of your flowerbed by positioning spotlights around the edges.

If three spotlights still isn’t enough, you can extend your setup easily thanks to the Low-volt system. Use T-connectors in the Lily spot light extension pack to connect additional spotlights throughout your outdoor space.
