What color light is best for dining rooms?

Dining rooms are used throughout the day for different purposes, so the best color of light for dining rooms complements the room’s style but also adjusts to the use. Your dining room lighting should provide energizing light during the day, a warm and soothing glow in the evening, and perhaps a pop of color just for fun.

How high should a dining room light be above a table?

The height of your dining room light depends on table size and ceiling height. Generally, the bottom of the light fixture should be between 23 to 31 inches above the table. If the table is a little smaller, or you have high ceilings, lean toward the lower end of the range. This should illuminate your table without blocking the view across the table — but don’t forget to take your personal preference into account, too. Read more about hanging pendant lights

Should dining room and kitchen lights match?

If you want! You can choose to match your kitchen and dining room lighting for a cohesive look, or embrace different lighting styles to create distinctive spaces. If you choose not to match the lights, they can still complement each other through similar finishes, materials, or styles. While maintaining a sense of visual harmony, don’t forget the functional needs of each space. Kitchens typically need brighter, more task-oriented lighting compared to dining rooms.
